A Beautiful Beginning!

The first day of kindergarten was a HUGE success!  Not a single tear was shed and nothing but smiles, laughter, and fun was to be heard in room 5B.  What a wonderful day it was!  The second day was equally successful  Here are some pictures from the first two days of school:
Learning how to use Unifix Cubes

Making trains and towers with Unifix cubes

We are already making friends!

Kindergarten is fun!

Fun on the playground!

There's so many fun things to do!

All smiles!

Having a great time pretending with friends!

Playing with shaving cream for our first bucket party!

Good, clean, messy fun!

Fun, fun, fun!

This was so much fun!
This next week we will have even more fun and learn even more new things!  We will begin our math series on Monday which will include nightly math homework.  Reading homework will also start this week.  Homework in kindergarten should be fairly simple for your child to complete and is only meant as a means to reinforce the learning that is done at school.  If you and your child have a difficult time completing the homework together in 20 minutes or less, please let me know.  The last thing I want homework to do is make things difficult for you at home!

We will also begin all of our special classes this coming week.  We will have Music and P.E. on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays.  We will have library on Tuesdays and Art on Wednesdays.  We will also have our first visit from our school counselor this week and go on a full tour of the building.  Please encourage your child to tell you about their day at school.  There is so much learning that can be reinforced by sharing their learning with you at home.

Thank you for sharing your child with me this year.  Kindergarten is going to be amazing!  Have a wonderful rest of your weekend and I'll see your child in the morning!

Yours in Education,

Mr. Scruggs
